The coupling between the electric motor and high performance air end with low rotation speed it is characterised by an automatic tension system of the belts consisting of two guided moving plates and of a cast-iron conical coupling pulley, ensuring stability in the transmission of the drive transmission, low mechanical stress and easy maintenance operations. The electronic FIAC CHECK CONTROL panel organises safely and efficiently all the functions of the compressor as well as the alarm systems and the maintenance intervals, thus permitting the operator to constantly monitor the working conditions and eventual malfunctions of the machine.

The excellent layout of the main components favour the heat exchange and efficiency of the forced ventilation system, as well as making maintenance quick and economical thanks to the ease of access guaranteed by a system of mobile panels equipped with safety locks.

In the design phase, much attention was given to making the installation of the machine simple, wich is fully described in the use and maintenance manual. For particular applications FIAC offers its skilled assistance, which is by now well renowned. An ever increasing number of professionals choose FIAC AIRBLOK compressors to ensure that they are ahead in the world of compressed air.

Air End

The key elements in producing the air end are its two rotors. Optimal selection of lobe quantity, type of profile and rotor dimensions (length and diameter) makes it possible to achieve high performance at low rotation speed. This translates into an energy cost saving for the electric motor and an extended life for the unit (bearings need maintenance at 20,000 duty hours).

The air end has the following characteristics: Oversized bearings, journal bearings and thrust bearings which contrast the axial load on the driving rotor. A perfect seal on the shaft of the driving rotor is ensured by a efficient ring, with metal reinforcement to resist high oil pressure. Cooling is by oil injection.

Transmission System

An efficient coupling system between the electric motor and the air end guarantees stability in the drive transmission, minimised stress of the rotating parts and easy maintenance.

For the AIRBLOK 10-60 series FIAC has patented an automatic belt tensioning system that consists of two plates that slide along guides, one fixed to the motor and the other to the screw unit and of gauged adjustment springs that hold the set transmission in time. The use of cast iron taper-fit pulleys ensures the perfect and stable alignment of the rotating elements, which provides benefits in terms of the operational life of the belts and reduced power losses and vibrations.

The technical solutions adopted by FIAC in the transmission system facilitate the routine

maintenance of parts subject to normal wear but also extraordinary maintenance jobs on the electric motor and the air end.

Oil Separation System

The three-stage separation system is the result of in-depth research which has succeeded in

providing high quality outlet air. The separation tank (complete with drain tap, oil level indicator,

separator filter) has two different separation stages: centrifugal and gravity. The third separation stage occurs through a long-life coalescence separator filter, long-life assured also thanks to the efficiency of the first two stages.

This system limits oil aerosol traces below 3ppm. Air outlet by the compressor is in Class 4- Oil

Residues of standard ISO 8573-1:1991, referring to air purity. For the model AIRBLOK 40 – 50 – 60 HP the correct filter operation is guaranteed by an electric device which sends an alarm signal to the electronic board in case of clogging.

Maintenance

The reliability of the components utilsed has been exhaustively tested in the production of the AIRBLOK series. Their arrangement has been rationalised to ensure easy access in the aim of making maintenance much quicker and cheaper. In collaboration with its highly qualified technical staff, FIAC has developed a scheduled maintenance KIT, which comes complete with a detailed service manual in order to make maintenance jobs much quicker and more efficient.

Ventilation System

To ensure lasting and efficient operation, even in harsh operating conditions, the ventilation system of the compressor must keep the hydraulic circuits cooled correctly (compressed air and oil) and also all the main components. The AIRBLOK series ensures an optimum thermal exchanging system through the rational arrangement of the moving parts that generate heat and the other static parts, offering benefits also in terms of the efficiency of the forced ventilation system.

Suction Valve

The constructional solidity of the suction valve has been obtained through specific research activities aimed at minimising maintenance. The suction system, with electro pneumatically

operated butterfly valve, is equipped with a plate return spring and incorporates the automatic non-return valve, which enables the total elimination of troublesome oil return problems

within the air filter even in the case of “water hammering” due to the sudden stoppage of the machine during the compression phase.

Control Panel

The control panel consists of a microprocessor denominated FIAC CHECK CONTROL that safely and efficiently controls all the functions of the compressor. When the machine is running, the display monitors the line pressure, oil temperature and working condition (compressing, idling, stop). Should abnormal conditions arise, the various alarms are pointed out by a red led, by a beep and by a flashing message indicating the cause for the actual alarm.

Access to all the functions of the microprocessor is gained using passwords that are supplied exclusively to authorised technicians.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

A spray gun is an essential tool for applying paint finishes regularly to furnishings, and there is a wide selection of spray guns to choose from on the market. Understanding what type of spray gun will work best for your application takes a lot of guess work out of the buying one. Read these steps before you purchase a spray gun.

1. Consider how much spraying you intend to do. Many Industrial spray jobs are done with air-assisted airless spray systems, which are more expensive but also fast and efficient. For light to medium spray work, you can choose a less expensive system like a turbine HVLP (high-volume, low-pressure) or a compressor HVLP.

2. Take into account the tools you currently have in your workshop. If you already have an air compressor or have other tools that require a compressor to operate, buy a compressor HVLP gun. Make sure your compressor can produce enough psi (or pounds of air per square inch) to power an HVLP gun. Check the spray gun and compressor specifications to determine a suitable match.

3. If you don’t have an air compressor or intend buying one you have the option of purchasing a turbine HVLP system. Select a three- to five-stage turbine with at least a 6 psi capacity if you intend to spray clear finishes.

4. Establish the type of cup you want for your spray gun. The cup supplies the gun with finish and comes in three main types: remote pressure-fed, gravity-fed and pressurised siphon-fed. Select a remote pressure-fed gun if you do a lot of spraying and want a large container to hold your finish. Choose a pressurised siphon-fed if you only intend to do minimal spraying and have a turbine HVLP. Select a gravity-fed cup if you do small amounts of spraying and have a compressor HVLP.
